SELF-HELP LEGAL ACCESS CENTERS
ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER (API) LANGUAGE LEGAL SERVICES AND OUTREACH
NLS' drop-in legal centers teach people to access justice for themselves.  The Center's professional staff and volunteers help people navigate through the court system, from filling out the appropriate forms, to how and what to say before a judge. The Centers provide assistance with small claims, evictions, family law and other civil litigation. Internet access, computerized court forms and Alternative Dispute Resolution are also available. Please check Contact Us for locations.
NLS places a high priority on providing appropriate language access and culturally sensitive legal services to our clients, including monolingual Chinese and Korean speaking clients in the areas of family law/domestic violence legal services, housing, immigration, public benefits and health consumer issues. We have an API Outreach team that is eager to respond to requests for community presentations, or to general questions regarding our API services.

Community organizations: Please contact us at APIOutreach@nls-la.org. Potential clients can access NLS services, in multiple languages, through our NLS hotline at 1-800-433-6251.
DOMESTIC ABUSE SELF-HELP SERVICES
WORKER'S RIGHTS CENTERS
The NLS Domestic Abuse Self-Help Project (DASH) operates four domestic violence clinics. DASH helps people with preparing the court forms required in Domestic Violence Restraining Order Cases. DASH also offers restraining order hearing preparation workshops and Respondent assistance. DASH clinics are staffed by trained attorneys, students and community volunteers. See Contact Us for locations and hours. To volunteer, contact volunteers@nls-la.org.
The Workers' Rights Centers provide a place for low-income workers to come, free of charge, to learn about their rights as workers, and to get help as they pursue legal claims to wages, unemployment benefits, and criminal records clean up.

The Centers provide self-help legal assistance to workers, through written materials and one-on-one interviews, helping people to understand their legal rights and analyze their legal options.
